Since the Queer Dance Camps 2014 and 2015 were so successful and the participants had so much fun, we’re now planning the camp for the third time, thereby establishing Queer Dance Camp as a “set event” in the yearly training plan for equality dancers. Queer Dance Camp 2016 offers an intensive and engaging training event in the last weekend before Christmas. The training camp is designed for all international equality dance pairs of all classes and recreational dancers. The training is conducted in either the German or English language.

Equality dance experienced trainers from pinkballroom and other clubs will offer a variety of training sessions for both Standard and Latin dance over the course of the weekend. Along with Gergely Darabos, Pascal Herrbach and Christian Wenzel as our “established” Queer Dance Camp trainers  and Gabriella-Ann Davis, Janet Marmulla and Claudia Reger  will join them as „new“ trainers in bringing their expertise to the parkett.

The theme of this camp is “Shape – impressively large and nevertheless smoothly communicative.” We want to explore the idea of “space in the pair.” In Standard we want to create a large, balanced shape while at the same time remaining light and supple. In Latin we want to play with distance and closeness, nevertheless defining the space between ourselves. We want to experience this effect, to communicate this outwardly and for Latin in particular to design recognizable shapes.

How does the camp work?

  • Together: Dancers come together from different clubs and learn from and with one another.
  • Something for Everyone: All trainings are appropriate for all participants –of whether your concentration is on Standard or Latin.
  • Learning: The trainers will focus on special topics on these three days, enabling them to delve more deeply and time-intensively into each concept than is possible in day-to-day training.
  • Something new:Wait and see; we’re planning some surprises!
  • Fun: The weekend concludes at the legendary Café fatal. Whoever wants to come – everyone is welcome.
